Abstract

A careful initial evaluation and proper treatment of the injured hand can minimize morbidity and assure early recovery. Various hand injuries encountered and their appropriate treatment are discussed. Emphasis is placed on the initial care, and in some instances the definitive treatment, which can be given in the physician's office or the hospital emergency room.
