Abstract

Malignant Melanoma and the Importance of Screening

Currently, men are thought to have a 1 in 49 lifetime chance and women a 1 in 73 lifetime chance of developing melanoma. In the past 30 years, the percentage of people who develop melanoma has more than doubled in the United States. Early diagnosis and treatment is key when dealing with melanoma; if it is not removed in its early stages, the disease is almost impossible to control. Therefore, you should conduct regular self-examinations as well as undergo routine body checks from your physician.
