Proximal Intercessory Prayer

Authors: Peter W. Choo, MD, DrPH

Abstract

To the Editor:

I read with interest the article titled “Study of the Therapeutic Effects of Proximal Intercessory Prayer (STEPP) on Auditory and Visual Impairments in Rural Mozambique,” by Brown et al.1 As a person of the Christian faith who also practices internal medicine, I often have to navigate the interface between faith and medical science. One area where I feel this tension most intensely is that of healing prayer.
