Recurrent Lateral Dislocation of the Patella Preliminary Results of Pes Anserinus Transfer

Authors: M. C. WILBER MD. Galveston, Tex

Abstract

Abstract:Over the years the management of the recurrent dislocating patella has varied from conservative measures to patellar excision. Accepting these occasionally indicated extremes, the need for a highly successful surgical method of management still exists. Transfer of the pes anserinus to the patellar tendon may meet this need. Use of the procedure on ten knees in nine patients has resulted in no known recurrences to date.
