Abstract

ABSTRACT: Schwannoma arising within breast parenchyma is rare. We report such a case in a 50-year-old woman. The tumor, which measured 7 mm, is the smallest and the only mammographically detected schwannoma of the breast thus far reported. Clinicians should be aware that this benign tumor of breast may simulate a malignant neoplasm clinically as well as mammographically. A review of the international literature yielded 15 proven cases of mammary schwannoma. Recurrence after surgical excision has not been reported.
