Shock The Hemodynamic Diagnosis and Treatment

Authors: CHARLES E. EASTRIDGE MD, FELIX A. HUGHES JR. MD

Abstract

This series of three papers deals in depth with modern day concepts and innovations in the diagnosis and treatment of various types of shock. A detailed discussion of the hemodynamic aspects of shock, diagnosis, treatment and the pathologic changes occurring in the lungs of patients suffering from shock or major trauma is presented. A method to make autotransfusion immediately available in hemorrhagic shock in association with chest trauma is described and control studies demonstrate the safety of this modality.
