Somatic Concomitants of Depression

Authors: RAYMOND W. WAGGONER, MD, ScD, RAYMOND W. WAGGONER, JR., MD

Abstract

The authors emphasize that contrary to common belief, depression is not only a characteristic of one phase of manic depressive psychosis but of other conditions as well. It is a not unusual symptom in other psychoses, in psychoneurosis and in “normal” persons upon occasion. Lack of recognition of depression when accompanied by physical symptoms may have, at times, serious consequences.
