The Polyphasic Spike Phenomenon

Authors: LILLI H. MUSELLA, PhD, D. T. GIANTURCO, MD, W. P. WILSON, MD

Abstract

The authors suggest that the electroencephalographic findings described may be indicative of a benign form of epilepsy. They substantiate this by a high incidence of accompanying seizures in the younger years of life. But, by contrast with the EEG abnormalities in adult epileptics (centrencephalic or temporal focal epilepsy) they rarely are accompanied by adult epileptic seizures.
