Abstract

The search for the etiologic factors in, and a better understanding of the degenerative diseases acquired great momentum with increasing control of infectious diseases. Arteriosclerosis, which by its effects causes death in such a high proportion of all deaths, remains an enigma as to etiology and pathogenesis. From a rapidly expanding literature on the subject this brief review separates the facts from the fancies.
