Abstract

While today’s patient information systems have facilitated the investigation of the characteristics of patients completing advance directives, and the preferences that they have for their end-of-life care, several barriers to the completion of the documents have been identified, including the lack of communication between patients, their healthcare agents, and healthcare providers.
