Abstract

The use of heat especially in the treatment of disorders in the musculoskeletal system is ancient. The author reviews the several methods of applying or producing heat in the tissues of the body and the objectives attained by these several modalities. Knowledge of the methods and objectives are essential to rational prescriptions for the use of heat.
