Insertion of the Lippes Loop in the Immediate Postpartum Patient: Comparison with Later Insertions

Authors: DAVID R. HALBERT, MD, ARTHUR C. CHRISTAKOS, MD, VIRGINIA B. LANG, RN, BSN

Abstract

The authors emphasize the advantages of the early insertion of the contraceptive loop. It is accompanied by less discomfort and certain complications which seem more frequent by later or between-pregnancy insertion. The only disadvantage seems a somewhat higher rate of expulsion of the loop.
