New Opportunities and Old Responsibilities

Authors: G. Richard Holt, MD, MSE, MPH, MABE

Abstract

It is an honor and a privilege to become the newest Editor-in-Chief of the Southern Medical Journal, whose longevity extends well beyond 100 years, back to the turn of the 20th century. Over these nearly 11 decades of medical publishing, the Journal has been a credible and dependable source of current clinical information for a wide spectrum of medical and surgical physicians. It has published medical literature which was intended to be of assistance to physicians in the care of their patients, and provided continuing medical education in many forums, in conjunction with the Southern Medical Association, its parent organization. I am very cognizant of the heritage of this journal, and want to keep the heritage alive and thriving during my tenure as Editor-in-Chief.
