Abstract

Staying Social As You Age

For older adults, social participation is linked to positive physical and mental health. Social activity also aids in recovery from illness.

When you visit your doctor for a health problem, he may focus his attention on curing your physical illness without realizing the importance of the influence of social activity on your health. However, because social activity does influence healing time and overall well-being, you should remember to ask your doctor what social activities may be appropriate for your physical fitness level and ability.
