Abstract

The efficacy of immunization against tetanus with the toxoid has been firmly established more than two decades ago. Yet the tetanus mortality rate in the South lags far behind that of other areas of the country. Until something is done about this in our area the statistics probably will not change. New Orleans and Louisiana are attempting to change the picture in their areas at least.
