The Diagnosis of Learning Disabilities: A Neurologic Screening Test to Identify Children at High Risk
Abstract
Abstract: A neurologic screening test (NST) was devised to provide a method of screening kindergarten children who may be at high risk for learning disabilities. It covers the child's laterality, sense of direction, some crainal nerve functions, fine and gross motor coordination, and certain sensory functions. The test, used on black and white children of all socioeconomic levels in the Oklahoma City Schools, proved to be useful in discriminating between random and high-risk groups. It also was useful in predicting a high-risk group when compared with two standardized tests of school readinessThis content is limited to qualifying members.
